CANOE SURFING: THE SPORT OF HAWAIIAN ROYALTY
Canoe surfing was born in Hawaiʻi and was once enjoyed exclusively by the aliʻi, or, Hawaiian royalty. Today, Waikīkī remains one of the few places in the world where guests can experience this traditional sport.
Led by experienced Waikīkī Beachboys, your crew will paddle offshore before turning toward the beach and surfing Waikīkī’s rolling waves back to shore. Guests ages five and older, including non-swimmers, may participate, making canoe surfing a memorable experience for families and groups.
A minimum three-person booking is required for outrigger canoe surfing. If your group has fewer than three people, select the three-person option and enter the actual number of participants in the comments section. Waikīkī Beach Services team members will join your crew as needed to assist with paddling.
For a longer, private experience, an outrigger canoe charter accommodates one to six guests for 60 minutes. Your group will enjoy as many wave rides as ocean conditions allow.
Same-day availability may also be offered at our beach desk. Please ask our team about joining the waitlist.
**Safety is our utmost priority; please note that varying weather and/or surf conditions may influence our staff to reduce the passenger load per canoe.
